Samson

He was a special dog patient, Newfoundland hound who was very overweight, suffering from severe hip dysplasia and arthritis. The breeder really shouldn’t have sold the puppy to its owners, as she would have known the dog had hip problems.

The sad thing about Samson was that he wasn’t even 2 years old when I first saw him and he had been in considerable pain for most of his life. The vet felt the dog wouldn’t make it to 2 years of age but he did, he lived a full life and died at 10years of age, which is about average for these dogs.

Samson by this stage was having Cartrophen injections (anti-osteoarthritic drug) from the vet on a weekly basis and had been doing so for some months with little improvement. The owners were upset that Samson was not taking a turn for the better considering the time and money that had been invested.

The great thing about dog patients is they tend to be good eaters, absolute gluttons if allowed, so it’s not difficult to shoot herbs and supplements into their food, which is what Samson’s owners did over a period of months.

This is a letter form the owners:

        Dear Wendy,

We have been taking Samson for short walks and he is not as tired afterwards. He is still having his injections, however             with your herbs and treatment, the frequency is further apart. Samson’s weight is also down to 60kgs – the lightest he’s             ever been.

Please find enclosed more of his vet history. His Cartrophen injection has become once every 2-3 months now since                 starting the herb treatment.

Thanks for your help we will talk to you soon.
